How Gonstead chiropractic care may benefit your body
With openness and accuracy, we provide chiropractic support to help ease what you’re experiencing.
With a strong foundation in detailed training and lifelong learning, Gonstead chiropractors focus on delivering carefully considered care.
Rather than using generic care plans, we focus on crafting a chiropractic approach that fits your situation, with no unnecessary appointments.
We find it
Our process involves a careful assessment of your spine and nervous system to identify the true source of discomfort.
We adjust it
With a steady hand and detailed technique, we apply Gonstead adjustments to help restore balance in your spine.
We leave it alone
We allow your body the opportunity to rebalance and support natural nerve flow following an adjustment.
What Gonstead chiropractic may help with
Though back pain is commonly associated with chiropractic care, our Gonstead approach may assist with pain in a range of areas, including:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Limb and joint pain
- Headaches & Migraines
- Dizziness
- Nerve pain
Understanding the Gonstead approach
The Gonstead method involves detailed analysis to understand how your nerves, muscles, and bones work together – far beyond a simple spinal adjustment.
After identifying the issue and confirming chiropractic care is appropriate, we tailor a plan focused on achieving results with as few adjustments as needed.
Taking your history
Understanding your background, symptoms, and goals helps shape our approach, and we make sure your voice is heard from the start.
Visual assessment
Our knowledge of posture and body mechanics allows us to detect small signs of musculoskeletal issues as you move.
Instrumental analysis
We use a nervoscope along the spine to detect temperature shifts, which may point to areas of nerve irritation.
Static palpation
With an expert touch, we feel along your spine for swelling or tenderness to help identify the source of your pain, which may be referred from another area.
Motion palpation
While moving your spine gently, we assess for any irregular motion between segments to help identify where support may be needed.
X-ray imaging
We use on-site X-rays to examine spinal alignment and disc condition, adding another layer of insight to support our in-depth chiropractic assessment.
Targeted spinal adjustment
After completing a detailed assessment, we’ll let you know if chiropractic care is appropriate and talk you through the next steps if needed.
Using the Gonstead method, we apply swift and carefully controlled movements to help restore natural motion and improve spinal balance—with your consent every step of the way.
Gonstead care is personalised to suit your needs, with the goal of helping you feel your best—physically and emotionally.
How the Gonstead approach developed
Developed in the 1940s by Dr Clarence Gonstead, the Gonstead chiropractic system was born from a desire to better understand and address spinal misalignments. Drawing on biomechanics and disc-nerve relationships, Dr Gonstead crafted a thorough system for assessing the entire spine through detailed analysis.
As his practice continued to expand through the 1950s, Dr Gonstead’s team began teaching his method to other chiropractors and established the Gonstead Clinic of Chiropractic in Wisconsin in 1964.
The Gonstead system is now taught at leading universities and used by chiropractors worldwide, widely regarded as a benchmark in chiropractic practice.
Chiropractic Symphony practitioners are proud members of the Gonstead Chiropractic Society, offering a methodical and compassionate approach to your care.
