Why we utilise Gonstead chiropractic care
The Gonstead approach to chiropractic care focuses on clarity and accuracy to guide your care.

Ways the Gonstead method may support your health
With openness and accuracy, we provide chiropractic support to help ease what you’re experiencing.
Gonstead practitioners dedicate years to education and continued learning to ensure every adjustment is precise and responsive to your individual needs.
We don’t offer ‘out-of-the-box’ chiropractic care plans. Instead, we develop a treatment plan specifically designed to help you and only recommend the number of visits you genuinely need.
We find it
Our process involves a careful assessment of your spine and nervous system to identify the true source of discomfort.
We adjust it
With a steady hand and detailed technique, we apply Gonstead adjustments to help restore balance in your spine.
We leave it alone
Following your adjustment, we respect the body’s own timing to reset and support
Conditions often supported by Gonstead chiropractic
Many assume chiropractic care is just for back pain, but the Gonstead method may support relief across different areas of the body, such as:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Limb and joint pain
- Headaches & Migraines
- Dizziness
- Nerve pain
How Gonstead care is applied
With a strong focus on accuracy, the Gonstead approach uses a range of tools to examine how the body’s systems interact, offering insight well beyond spinal manipulation.
We assess the concern, ensure chiropractic care is suitable, and craft a plan aimed at delivering meaningful outcomes with only necessary adjustments.
Taking your history
We begin by carefully exploring your health history, lifestyle, and concerns—your perspective is central to how we approach your care.
Visual assessment
As experts in posture and movement, we watch you move as we look for subtle signs of issues or imbalances in your musculoskeletal system.
Instrumental analysis
Using our precision nervoscope tool to run down your spine, we watch for temperature changes that can indicate underlying nerve problems.
Static palpation
Using a careful and trained touch, we examine your spine for areas of swelling or sensitivity that may signal referred pain.
Motion palpation
While moving your spine gently, we assess for any irregular motion between segments to help identify where support may be needed.
X-ray imaging
With instant access to spinal images via on-site X-ray, we gain valuable insight into your vertebral structure to guide careful and well-informed care.
Detailed and accurate corrections
Once we’ve run our thorough assessment, we’ll recommend whether you need any chiropractic care. If you do need adjustments, we’ll explain our plan and give you a chance to ask questions.
Once you’re comfortable with the proposed treatment, we’ll carry out your adjustment using the Gonstead approach—focused, accurate movements designed to support alignment and ease discomfort.
Your adjustments are tailored through the Gonstead method to align with your unique health goals and support a greater sense of wellbeing.
The origins of Gonstead care
The Gonstead chiropractic system is an approach developed by Dr Clarence Gonstead in the 1940s. Dr Gonstead was particularly interested in finding more effective ways to locate and correct spinal misalignments and was guided by biomechanics and the interactions between vertebral discs and nerve pressure. Through extensive clinical research, Gonstead developed a complete method of biomechanical analysis based on through examination of the whole spine, not just the affected area.
With the growing success of his practice in the 1950s, Dr Gonstead and his team began training other chiropractors and opened the Gonstead Clinic of Chiropractic in Wisconsin in 1964.
Widely taught and practised internationally, the Gonstead system is recognised by many as a high standard of chiropractic technique.
Our team at Chiropractic Symphony are members of the Gonstead Chiropractic Society and are committed to providing thoughtful, detailed care using the Gonstead method.
