Chiropractic care with an emphasis on detail and individual attention

Our reason for using the Gonstead approach
Through the Gonstead method, chiropractic care is guided by thorough analysis and tailored support.
Guided by the principle of addressing the issue and stepping back, the Gonstead method offers care that’s precise and not drawn out.
We aim to uncover the underlying issue and provide care that’s carefully aligned with your situation.

How Gonstead chiropractic care may benefit your body
With openness and accuracy, we provide chiropractic support to help ease what you’re experiencing.
Gonstead practitioners dedicate years to education and continued learning to ensure every adjustment is precise and responsive to your individual needs.
We don’t offer ‘out-of-the-box’ chiropractic care plans. Instead, we develop a treatment plan specifically designed to help you and only recommend the number of visits you genuinely need.

We find it
We take a detailed look at your spinal and nervous system health to uncover what’s really causing the issue.

We adjust it
With a steady hand and detailed technique, we apply Gonstead adjustments to help restore balance in your spine.

We leave it alone
We allow your body the opportunity to rebalance and support natural nerve flow following an adjustment.
Gonstead chiropractic conditions
Chiropractic support through the Gonstead approach goes beyond just the back—it may ease discomfort in multiple parts of the body, including:
- Back and neck pain
- Limb and joint pain
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Nerve pain
The process behind the Gonstead method
The Gonstead technique is specific, thorough and precise. Using meticulous analysis, we explore the interaction between nerves, muscles and bones using various assessment tools for a detailed diagnosis – it’s not just about cracking the spine.
We assess the concern, ensure chiropractic care is suitable, and craft a plan aimed at delivering meaningful outcomes with only necessary adjustments.
Taking your history
We take a thorough history to understand your symptoms, injuries, lifestyle and reason for your visit. Listening to your point of view is a vital part of our consultation.
Visual assessment
Our knowledge of posture and body mechanics allows us to detect small signs of musculoskeletal issues as you move.
Instrumental analysis
By guiding a nervoscope down your spine, we look for changes in temperature that could suggest nerve-related concerns.
Static palpation
With an expert touch, we feel along your spine for swelling or tenderness to help identify the source of your pain, which may be referred from another area.
Motion palpation
Through guided movements, we observe how each part of your spine responds, checking for areas that aren’t moving as they should.
X-ray imaging
Our on-site X-ray gives us a clear, immediate view of your spine, allowing us to assess disc health, joint condition, and alignment as part of our detailed approach.
Targeted spinal adjustment
Once we’ve run our thorough assessment, we’ll recommend whether you need any chiropractic care. If you do need adjustments, we’ll explain our plan and give you a chance to ask questions.
With your permission, we’ll perform your adjustment using the Gonstead technique of quick, precise and meticulous movements to realign your spine, reduce pain, and restore normal movement.
Your adjustments are tailored through the Gonstead method to align with your unique health goals and support a greater sense of wellbeing.
History of the Gonstead technique
Originating in the 1940s, the Gonstead method was created by Dr Clarence Gonstead, who focused on improving how spinal misalignments were identified and addressed. His approach is rooted in biomechanical principles and a full-spine assessment rather than limiting focus to just the symptomatic area.
By the 1950s, Dr Gonstead’s method had gained significant traction, leading his team to educate fellow chiropractors and establish the Gonstead Clinic of Chiropractic in Wisconsin in 1964.
Widely taught and practised internationally, the Gonstead system is recognised by many as a high standard of chiropractic technique.
Our team at Chiropractic Symphony are members of the Gonstead Chiropractic Society and are committed to providing thoughtful, detailed care using the Gonstead method.
