Why we utilise Gonstead chiropractic care
Gonstead chiropractic care uses a detailed and structured approach to support your spinal health.
The Gonstead technique follows a clear approach—identify the problem, adjust with care, and avoid excessive follow-ups.
Our approach is about understanding what’s causing your discomfort, then providing care that’s suited to your needs.

How a Gonstead chiropractor can help you
We focus on relieving pain with a straightforward approach and well-considered adjustments.
Gonstead practitioners dedicate years to education and continued learning to ensure every adjustment is precise and responsive to your individual needs.
We create care plans based on your individual needs, not templates, and always recommend only what’s truly helpful for your progress.

We find it
We take a detailed look at your spinal and nervous system health to uncover what’s really causing the issue.

We adjust it
We use precise adjustments and Gonstead chiropractic methods to correct any misalignment.

We leave it alone
We allow your body the opportunity to rebalance and support natural nerve flow following an adjustment.
Gonstead chiropractic conditions
Chiropractic support through the Gonstead approach goes beyond just the back—it may ease discomfort in multiple parts of the body, including:
- Back and neck pain
- Limb and joint pain
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Nerve pain
The process behind the Gonstead method
This method takes a deep dive into your body’s structure—using detailed assessments to understand the full picture, not just make spinal adjustments.
After identifying the issue and confirming chiropractic care is appropriate, we tailor a plan focused on achieving results with as few adjustments as needed.
Taking your history
Every consultation starts with listening—taking the time to learn about your health story and what’s brought you in.
Visual assessment
By carefully watching your movement patterns, we look for the finer details that may point to underlying postural or structural problems.
Instrumental analysis
By guiding a nervoscope down your spine, we look for changes in temperature that could suggest nerve-related concerns.
Static palpation
By palpating the spine with precision, we detect subtle signs that may reveal pain coming from another part of the body.
Motion palpation
As we guide you through gentle movements, we’ll feel for unusual motion patterns between different spine segments to locate areas that need adjusting.
X-ray imaging
Our on-site X-ray gives us a clear, immediate view of your spine, allowing us to assess disc health, joint condition, and alignment as part of our detailed approach.
Focused chiropractic realignment
We’ll only recommend chiropractic care if our full assessment shows it’s suitable, and we’ll take the time to explain everything clearly.
Once you’re comfortable with the proposed treatment, we’ll carry out your adjustment using the Gonstead approach—focused, accurate movements designed to support alignment and ease discomfort.
All Gonstead adjustments are tailored to your specific needs and to help you return to optimum health, wellbeing and happiness.
Where the Gonstead method began
Dr Clarence Gonstead introduced his chiropractic method in the 1940s with a focus on biomechanics and the relationship between spinal discs and nerve pressure. His research led to the development of a comprehensive analysis system that examines the entire spine for a more accurate and thorough understanding of spinal issues.
With the growing success of his practice in the 1950s, Dr Gonstead and his team began training other chiropractors and opened the Gonstead Clinic of Chiropractic in Wisconsin in 1964.
Widely taught and practised internationally, the Gonstead system is recognised by many as a high standard of chiropractic technique.
Chiropractic Symphony practitioners are proud members of the Gonstead Chiropractic Society, offering a methodical and compassionate approach to your care.
