Why we practice Gonstead chiropractic care
Through the Gonstead method, chiropractic care is guided by thorough analysis and tailored support.
Guided by the principle of addressing the issue and stepping back, the Gonstead method offers care that’s precise and not drawn out.
We focus on finding the reason behind your pain so we can deliver tailored care and specific treatments to fix the source of the problem.

Ways the Gonstead method may support your health
We focus on relieving pain with a straightforward approach and well-considered adjustments.
Gonstead practitioners dedicate years to education and continued learning to ensure every adjustment is precise and responsive to your individual needs.
Our care is never one-size-fits-all—we tailor your treatment to suit your needs and only suggest visits that make sense for you.

We find it
We take a detailed look at your spinal and nervous system health to uncover what’s really causing the issue.

We adjust it
We use precise adjustments and Gonstead chiropractic methods to correct any misalignment.

We leave it alone
After your adjustment, we allow the body space to recover and let nerve pathways function freely.
Conditions often supported by Gonstead chiropractic
Many assume chiropractic care is just for back pain, but the Gonstead method may support relief across different areas of the body, such as:
- Back and neck pain
- Limb and joint pain
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Nerve pain
How the Gonstead technique works
With a strong focus on accuracy, the Gonstead approach uses a range of tools to examine how the body’s systems interact, offering insight well beyond spinal manipulation.
We assess the concern, ensure chiropractic care is suitable, and craft a plan aimed at delivering meaningful outcomes with only necessary adjustments.
Taking your history
Understanding your background, symptoms, and goals helps shape our approach, and we make sure your voice is heard from the start.
Visual assessment
Our knowledge of posture and body mechanics allows us to detect small signs of musculoskeletal issues as you move.
Instrumental analysis
The nervoscope helps us pick up on subtle temperature variations along your spine that may reveal deeper nerve issues.
Static palpation
We gently assess along your spine, feeling for signs like tenderness or swelling that could point to the true source of discomfort.
Motion palpation
Through guided movements, we observe how each part of your spine responds, checking for areas that aren’t moving as they should.
X-ray imaging
Our on-site X-ray gives us a clear, immediate view of your spine, allowing us to assess disc health, joint condition, and alignment as part of our detailed approach.
Precision adjustments
We’ll only recommend chiropractic care if our full assessment shows it’s suitable, and we’ll take the time to explain everything clearly.
Your adjustment is delivered with your consent using the Gonstead technique, applying purposeful, detailed movements to support better mobility and reduce discomfort.
Each Gonstead adjustment is carefully matched to your individual situation, supporting your journey toward better health and overall wellbeing.
How the Gonstead approach developed
Developed in the 1940s by Dr Clarence Gonstead, the Gonstead chiropractic system was born from a desire to better understand and address spinal misalignments. Drawing on biomechanics and disc-nerve relationships, Dr Gonstead crafted a thorough system for assessing the entire spine through detailed analysis.
As his practice continued to expand through the 1950s, Dr Gonstead’s team began teaching his method to other chiropractors and established the Gonstead Clinic of Chiropractic in Wisconsin in 1964.
Today, Gonstead programs are taught in major universities, and chiropractors all over the world practise the Gonstead system. It’s considered by many to be the gold standard in chiropractic care.
Chiropractic Symphony practitioners are proud members of the Gonstead Chiropractic Society, offering a methodical and compassionate approach to your care.
