Gonstead chiropractic conditions

While most people think chiropractors only help with back pain, our Gonstead chiropractic care may help relieve pain in various parts of your body, including:

  • back and neck pain
  • limb and joint pain
  • headaches
  • dizziness
  • nerve pain

How the Gonstead technique works

The Gonstead technique is specific, thorough and precise. Using meticulous analysis, we explore the interaction between nerves, muscles and bones using various assessment tools for a detailed diagnosis – it’s not just about cracking the spine.

Once we find the problem and determine the suitability of chiropractic treatment, we design a course of care that aims to give you great results with minimal adjustments.

Taking your history

We take a thorough history to understand your symptoms, injuries, lifestyle and reason for your visit. Listening to your point of view is a vital part of our consultation.

Visual assessment

As experts in posture and movement, we watch you move as we look for subtle signs of issues or imbalances in your musculoskeletal system.

Instrumental analysis

Using our precision nervoscope tool to run down your spine, we watch for temperature changes that can indicate underlying nerve problems.

Static palpation

With an expert touch, we feel along your spine for swelling or tenderness to help identify the source of your pain, which may be referred from another area.

Motion palpation

As we guide you through gentle movements, we’ll feel for unusual motion patterns between different spine segments to locate areas that need adjusting.

X-ray imaging

We take an on-site X-ray for an instant image of your spine to further inform our thorough analysis and help us to provide meticulous and precise chiropractic care.

Precision adjustments

Once we’ve run our thorough assessment, we’ll recommend whether you need any chiropractic care. If you do need adjustments, we’ll explain our plan and give you a chance to ask questions.

With your permission, we’ll perform your adjustment using the Gonstead technique of quick, precise and meticulous movements to realign your spine, reduce pain, and restore normal movement.

All Gonstead chiropractic care and adjustments are tailored to your specific needs and to help you return to optimum health, wellbeing and happiness.

History of the Gonstead technique

The Gonstead technique is a chiropractic approach developed by Dr Clarence Gonstead in the 1940s. Dr Gonstead was particularly interested in finding more effective ways to locate and adjust spinal misalignments and was guided by biomechanics and the interactions between vertebral discs and nerve pressure.

As his practice continued to expand through the 1950s, Dr Gonstead’s team began teaching his method to other chiropractors and established the Gonstead Clinic of Chiropractic in Wisconsin in 1964.

Today, chiropractors all over the world practise the Gonstead technique. It’s considered by many to be the gold standard in chiropractic care.

We’re here to help you feel better and move better with personalised chiropractic care
